MW CC vs Salix and Guttsta CC, Kolsva, Sweden
21-25 June 2007

I don't doubt for one second that I speak for everyone when I say that Mighty Wanderers' first overseas tour was an event that truly surpassed all expectations. Over three days we and fellow-travellers Salix enjoyed the boundless hospitality and good company of the members of Guttsta CC, our incredibly friendly and enthusiastic hosts, in the picturesque small town of Kolsva. "If you build it, they will come" - they did, and we did, to a remarkable cricket pitch (the northernmost in the world) cut from a corner of a great fallow field which stretched far into the distance, eventually bounded by the looming wolf-haunted pine forest of wildest Scandanavia. The setting, especially during the warm summer evenings, was little short of idyllic. Fuelled by the nightly barbeque and (thankfully small) tins of Sweden's incredibly strong beers, MWcc not only defeated Salix for the second time in nearly as many weeks, but walked off with the 2007 Midsummer Cup itself.

Many thoughts cross the minds of the members of this great expedition, this journey into the unknown.

A Frenchman once said of porridge, "Does one eat it, or 'as somewurn awready eaten it?". Kolsva's indescribable fast (and only) food eateries score 4 stars in the Devil's own Michelin guide.

They flowed like the Nile...
